The claim is that while Hegel treats the good life as som ething found\, and to be implemented in the rational state\, MacIntyre tre ats it as something to be sought. This difference\, it is argued\, is refl ected in their respective accounts of the virtues: for Hegel\, the key vir tue becomes rectitude\, whereas for MacIntyre a wider range of virtues is required\, to make this quest for the good achievable.
