We are very pleased to announce that the second Latinx Philosophy Conference will be held here at Rutgers on April 27-28, 2017.  I am organizing this conference, along with Stephanie Rivera Berruz and Edgar Valdez.

The conference features three wonderful keynote speakers:

Andrea J. Pitts (UNC-Charlotte)
Carlos Alberto Sánchez (San Jose State)
Ernest Sosa (Rutgers)

The Latinx Philosophy Conference celebrates work by Latinx philosophers and philosophical work on issues of particular relevance to Latinx people.  The conference aims to bring together philosophers working on a wide variety of topics, from a wide variety of philosophical traditions.  The First Latinx Philosophy Conference was organized by graduate students at Columbia University in 2016 and was a great success.  We look to build on that success and to continue to support and connect this vibrant philosophical community.

Papers and panel proposals welcome on any area of philosophy, including (but by no means limited to) Epistemology, Ethics, Feminist Philosophy, History of Philosophy, Latin American Philosophy, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Race and Gender, Philosophy of Science, and Social and Political Philosophy.  We also welcome papers and panel proposals discussing issues of concern to the Latinx philosophical community in the United States and abroad.  We invite paper and panel proposals from students and faculty in any discipline.

Paper submissions should not exceed 5000 words (and should be suitable for a 30-minute presentation).  They should be prepared for anonymous review and sent as a PDF file to latinxphilosophyconference@gmail.com .  In a separate PDF attachment, please include your name, academic affiliation, email address, telephone number, paper title, and an abstract of no more than 250 words.

Panel proposals should be between 500 and 1000 words, and should set out in some detail the focus of the proposed panel.  Please only submit proposals if all proposed panelists have confirmed a willingness to attend if selected.  Panels should include no more than four panelists.  Proposals should be prepared for anonymous review and sent as a PDF to latinxphilosophyconference@gmail.com .  In a separate PDF attachment, please include the names of the proposed panelists, their academic affiliations, email addresses, and panel title.

Deadline: February 20, 2017

Notification of acceptance: March 10, 2017
