{"id":1473,"date":"2009-10-15T00:31:13","date_gmt":"2009-10-15T04:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.noahgreenstein.com\/wordpress\/?p=1473"},"modified":"2009-10-15T00:31:13","modified_gmt":"2009-10-15T04:31:13","slug":"climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noahgreenstein.com\/wordpress\/2009\/10\/15\/climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Climate Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a post for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogactionday.org\/\">Blog Action Day<\/a> 09!<\/p>\n<p>If the climate changes rapidly enough, the human race is finished.\u00a0 If the climate does not change quite that rapidly, we&#8217;ve got other problems.<\/p>\n<p>For the sake of argument, let us assume that we are not beings in some religious pantheon, but are merely biological organisms of this Earth.\u00a0 If the climate changes, i.e. if nature as we know it no longer exists, then how are we to think of ourselves?<\/p>\n<p>For our entire history we have lived within a climate that is amenable to us.\u00a0 Living in a new climate  would be like living on an alien planet, without hope of returning to Earth.\u00a0 The problem is:\u00a0 we are not aliens, we&#8217;re Earthlings.\u00a0 If we are not Earthlings, what are we?\u00a0 Hence the problem of climate change is more than a problem of our survival, it is an existential  problem of our species.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t need any more existential problems, and since this is one preventable, lets do something about it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a post for Blog Action Day 09!
