NYC Area Philosophy Calendar Spring 2014 update

I’ve updated the NYC Area Philosophy Calendar for Spring 2014. As per usual, there are some great talks and conferences to check out.

I’d love feedback about the calendar, so please get in touch if you have any comments or suggestions.

From my website statistics Brooklyn, NY has the heaviest calendar users. Hello Brooklyn.

  1. Nice job. Ya hasta love the stuff. I’m going to use the calendar quite a lot.

Ever considered putting the MeetUp.com philosophy groups on the calendar? RW

  2. Glad you find the calendar useful.

I haven’t thought about MeetUps in a while. The reason I didn’t include them to begin with was that I was more interested in listing professional philosophy talks. MeetUps appear a bit less formal, probably to their benefit.

I also dislike making editorial decisions about what counts as philosophy. It’s hard to judge the focus of MeetUps – is it people getting stoned and thinking they are deep, or are they actually discussing interesting questions – so I opted to make the cut at all MeetUps.

Perhaps next semester. Maybe I’ll even go to a few to test them out. As for now, I do provide the link to philosophy MeetUps below the calendar.

If you have any suggestions, I’d be happy to hear them. I think this is the first question I’ve gotten about the calendar since I started it 4 years ago.
